

Otis S. Harding, age 89, of Temple, Texas passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at a local care center. A graveside service was held on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple, Texas. A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at 11:00 AM at St. Luke's Catholic Church with Father Tom Chamberlain officiating. Otis was born on August 20, 1926 in Kansas City, MO the son of Otis G. Harding and Peggy Haddix. He attended Kansas University before serving his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He was General Manager of new car dealerships in several different states. He then became owner/operator of Harding Lincoln-Mercury in Temple from 1970 until 1993. After selling the new car dealership, Otis and his son, Steve, had a used car business in Temple for several years. Then Otis went to Dallas to help his brother-in-law, Ben Pinnell, with his Real Estate Investment business until he returned to Temple in 2015. He was the former President of the Texas Automobile Dealers Association, the last president of the Temple Country Club, and a charter member of the Wildflower Country Club here in Temple. He was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Temple where he was one of the first Eucharistic ministers and a charter member of the parish. Otis also was one of the first presidents of the St. Vincent DePaul Society in Temple, Texas. Otis is survived by his children Cindy Snodgrass and her husband Marvin of Temple and Steve Harding and wife Sheryl of Taos, N.M.; grandchildren; Ginny Gathright and husband Brian of Colorado, Ty Snodgrass and wife Shannon of West Virginia, Kelly Snodgrass of Alaska, Logan Zeke Harding and wife Martha of Texas, Adrienne Sheffield-Diaz and husband Jorge of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and Ashley Itenberg and husband Isaac of New York. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren. Otis was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Harding, his mother, Peggy Harding, and his father and step-mother, Otis and Lorraine Harding.
