Patricia Ann "Granny" Layne, 79, went to be with the Lord and her husband on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at a hospital in Temple with her family by her side. Services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, September 6 at the Troy First Baptist Church with Reverend Harlan Haines and Dr. Gene Wolfenbarger officiating. Burial will follow at Pendleton Cemetery, Pendleton, Texas. Visitation will be 6-8pm, Wednesday, September 5 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Patricia was born in Fort Worth, Texas to Fayette and Veda Brazil on July 6, 1933. She had been a lifelong resident of Fort Worth and Burleson. She married Marvin Eugene Layne on January 11, 1951. They raised two wonderful children, Linda Kaye and Robert Eugene. She worked as a homemaker and mother, and in her most recent years helped care for her great-grandchildren after school. She was a member of Joshua Baptist Church and Troy First Baptist Church. Granny was a devout Christian. She and Marvin moved to Troy in 2004 to be closer to their daughter, due to their health. After her husband's death in 2007, you could usually find Granny sitting in her recliner reading a Christian love novel or looking out the window watching the birds with her cat, Kris. She would, however, tell you on any given day at any given hour how much she missed Marvin and how much they loved each other. Granny enjoyed wearing fancy jewelry and having her nails manicured and painted at the salon every two weeks. She enjoyed visiting with her family during family gatherings or just having a quiet dinner at her daughter's home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Eugene Layne, and her parents Fayette and Veda Brazil. Survivors include her two children, Linda Kaye Kosier and husband, Gerald Lee of Troy and Robert Eugene Layne, Sr. and wife, Maureen of Aledo; her sister, Mary Ann Miller and husband, Doug of Vernon, Connecticut; a sister-in-law, Loretta Hall of Marshall and her three children, her nephew, Jody Hall, and nieces, Sherri Schroeder and Vanessa Hicks; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Stacie Rumfield and husband Shayne of Belton; Rodger Lee Gant, Jr. and wife, Elisa of Hurst; Robert "Robbie" Layne, Jr. and Timothy "Tim" Layne of Kennedale, Jennine Jarolik and husband, Kevin of Troy, Jeremy Kosier and wife, Nicole of China Spring; and Jonathan Kosier and wife, Delani of Waco; eleven great-grandchildren, Jeff and Zach Rumfield, Emily and Tyler Jarolik, Brennah, Shaidenn, and Breksten Kosier, and Tristine, Kyra, Summer and Jonathan, Jr. Kosier; and her very special friends and caregivers, Kelley, Janet, and Melody. Memorials in Patricia's name may be made to Joshua Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1210, Joshua, TX 76058 or to Troy First Baptist Church, 20 Church Ave, Troy, TX 76579.
