Patsy F Hill Sebek was born on September 23, 1932 to Leslie “Cotton” and Lessie Hill in the Joe Lee community. She was born a twin, but shortly after birth, her twin sister, Alice Mae, passed unexpectedly. Patsy (Pat) and her family lived in Rogers, Texas. It was a simple life in Rogers, Texas, but one she loved. At the age of 9 years old, she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior and was baptized by Brother Lewis from the Baptist church. Pat attended school in Rogers and graduated from Rogers High School in 1950 with many recognitions. On December 29, 1951, she married her high school sweetheart, Dan Sebek. Dan was in the Air Force and they briefly lived in San Antonio before he served in Okinawa. Patsy was a proud mother of two boys. Their first born son, Craig, was born while in San Antonio. After Dan’s time in the service, they made their home in Temple where their second son, Daren, was born. When the boys were older, Pat went to cosmetology school and had a 27 year career as a hairdresser mainly at Love’s Salon of Beauty. Many of her clients and the other ladies at Love’s became dear friends.
Pat had a gift for making a house a home. In her home, there was always a round dining table where many enjoyed her fabulous cooking. Mainly though, it was a gathering place for fun conversation with her. Her grandmother name was “Meme”. She was always overjoyed in connecting with her grandchildren, extended family, and friends. Pat always wanted to know “what’s going on…..” making sure she was up-to-date in the lives of those she loved. One thing, for sure, she had a great laugh which was contagious. Any family gathering or holiday was open to others and often filled with lots of laughter and conversation. She blessed others graciously. Also at the round dining table, many games were played (competitively, of course). Among her favorites were “chicken foot”, “42”, and “84”.
Pat was a long time member of Memorial Baptist Church in Temple. She sang in the church choir and loved congregating with her church family.
Pat’s last few years were spent living at Sodalis and she embraced this new life with vigor. She willingly participated in many activities as well as games…..especially Bingo. She was even known to keep her Bingo cards to use the next time if they were “winners”. She loved winning!
As she was able, Pat lived every minute of her 91 years. Even though her body grew weak, she assured her family that “I am ready when the good Lord calls me home.”
Pat is survived by son, Craig Sebek and wife Trish; Daren Sebek and wife Carolyn; grandchildren Connie Kaaiohelo; Cindy Quick and husband Dirk; Chance Sebek and wife Megan; Todd Sebek and wife Lindsay; Dylan Sebek and wife Devin; step grandchildren Parker Davis and wife Cyndi; Carter Davis and wife Sidney; and Taylor, Benji, and Matt Quick. Pat’s surviving great grandchildren are Kora, Kenna, JJ, Cade, Craig, Levi, Rowan, Collins, Ellory, Rhett, Clay and step great grandchildren Harper, Gavin, Sterling, Chesney, and River.
Joyce Hill Mertz, her sister, survives Pat along with many nieces and nephews.
Pat was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 48 years, Dan Sebek, and her sister Ruby Hill Jungman.
