

Pauline Lytle Salzman, age 87, of Temple died Friday, September 17, 2010 in Temple. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, September 24, at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with John W. Salzman, Jr. officiating. Private burial will be at Bellwood Memorial Park. Visitation for family and friends will be 5:30-7:00pm on Thursday, September 23, at the funeral home. Mrs. Salzman was born on May 18, 1923 in Asheville, NC to Oren Forrest Lytle and Annie Laurie Parker Lytle. She graduated from Mars Hill College, Mars Hill, NC and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth. She married John W. Salzman, Sr. on June 14, 1947. She was an active leader in the churches where her husband pastored. She took on roles such as Sunday School teacher, VBS director, library coordinator and was involved in WMU throughout the years. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband John, of Temple, two sons, John W. Salzman, Jr. and wife, Jalayne of Midlothian, David L. Salzman and wife, Jan of Temple, a daughter, Stephanie A. Salzman Hiles and husband, Duane of Ankeny, IA; three sisters, Mary Margaret Riggins of Charlotte, NC, Helen Phifer and husband, Burt of Marshville, NC and Peggy McCurry and husband, Vernon of Greenville, SC; six grandchildren: Jasilyn Schaefer and husband, Matthew of Tyler, Victor Sliwa and wife, Jamie of Dallas, Ryan Salzman and wife, Catherine of Dallas, Jared Salzman and wife, Jennifer of Joshua, Lucas Sliwa of Austin, Corinne Salzman of Fort Worth and two great-grandchildren, Jaden and Jaxon Salzman.
