

Peggy Lynn Cherveny, 78, Troy, TX, died at Baylor Scott & White hospital in Temple, TX, on Thursday, January 29, 2026. Peg was born in Manchester, IA, Oct 14,1947, to the parents of Paul Wayne Swanson and Georgia Lillian Swanson (Keith).
Peg spent her youth on the family farm near Buck Creek. She attended schools in Buck Creek, Hopkinton, and Delhi before graduating from Delhi HS in 1965. After high school she attended Young’s School of Beauty in Cedar Rapids, IA, subsequently receiving her state license for cosmetology.
Peg married her forever soul mate Robert Cherveny on September 23, 1967, in Tamaqua, PA. Their first home was in St. Charles, MO, followed by other homes in Cedar Rapids and Atkins, Iowa, Michigan, and Texas. She devoted her life to raising three children and maintaining beautiful homes for her family while working as a beautician in Iowa and Missouri. When living in Michigan she became a state licensed real estate agent.
She enjoyed outdoor activities which often included swimming, boating, water skiing, fishing, snowmobiling, and riding motorcycles. Peg and Bob shared a passion for travel. That passion took them to all 50 states, many of them more than once. They genuinely loved the Hawaiian Islands visiting them 8 times, mostly to celebrate wedding anniversaries. After retiring they spent months on the road in their class A RV traveling with their beloved fur babies, Tess, Coco and Molly.
Peg was a business entrepreneur starting and running a craft business designing and making home décor products and clothing. She enjoyed working with leather and made many wonderful plush leather pillows. When not crafting she could often be found in the kitchen since she was a great cook and loved preparing a wide variety of food. Peg was an avid reader a well.
Peg was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, an infant and Ruth Ann (Jerry Crooks) and brother Paul Gordon. She is survived by her husband, Bob, sons, Joseph Lee (Gabriela) in Texas, Michael David (Heidi) in Colorado, a daughter Dawn Renee (Robert Wilcox) in Texas, and a brother Jerry Wayne Swanson, in Iowa. Seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Scanio-Harper Funeral Home, 3110 Airport Rd, Temple, TX is handling final arrangements. A private memorial service will follow her cremation. Donations should be to St. Jude’s in her name.
