Phillip Leroy Mathias

Mr. Mathias died Wednesday in a Temple Hospital.

He was born April 23,1934 in Ohio to Herbert Leroy Mathias and Julia Hill Mathias. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Dorothy McNew June 19, 1959. He retired from the Temple Post Office in 1998.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Mathias of Temple; one son, Walter Mathias and his wife Lori of Liberty Hill; two daughters, Janice Meyer and her husband Kurt of Temple and Phyllis Mathias of Temple; 8 grandchildren, Emily Arbogust, Kelsey Mathias, Colton Bone, Katie Gomez, Cody Mathias, Malcolm Bone, Prestan Bone, and Jenny Meyer; and four great-grandchildren; five brothers and four sisters all of Arkansas, Joe Mathias, Tom Mathias, John Mathias, Sam Mathias, James Mathias, Martha Hobbs, Mary Brown, Bernice Mathias and Rebecca Mathias. Preceded in death by one sister Virginia Ann Mathias.
