Rhys Patrick Murphy, beloved son of Ryan and Meghan Murphy, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on June 16, 2025. In his two and a half years of life, Rhys filled every day with joy, passion, and laughter. He had a boisterous personality and an infectious spirit that brought light to every room he entered.
Rhys lived life at full speed—sprinting through the house in his cheetah costume, climbing onto the counters to sneak snacks, and giggling his way through each day. He woke early and eager, often grabbing pancakes from the freezer before his parents were out of bed, and he ended each day rallying his family for worship, where he joyfully sang and prayed. He had a heart drawn to the Lord and a spirit full of childlike faith.
Rhys was deeply loved by his siblings—Nathan, Honora, and Benjamin - who were his constant companions in play and imagination. He adored his grandparents—Brendon and Deanna Murphy, and Steven and Cassandra Ernsbarger, also known as Nana, Papa, Gigi, and Grandad. He was also loved by his many aunts, uncles, and cousins who will carry his memory in their hearts.
Rhys thrived at Mother’s Day Out at Covenant Lutheran and was dearly loved by his church family at Temple Bible Church. These communities were instrumental in growing his heart for others and for the Lord and will deeply miss him for years to come.
Though his time with us was short, Rhys leaves behind a legacy of unrestrained joy and deep love. We miss him with every breath, but we take comfort in knowing that because of Jesus, Rhys lives still—and now gets to give Jesus the best hugs every single day.
