

Robert (Bob) Allen Jones, 74, of Belton, formerly of Watervliet, Michigan went to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, June 29, 2012. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, July 6, 2012 at Fellowship Baptist Church in Morgan's Point Resort with Rev. Terry Cook and Rev. George Sipp officiating. Mr. Jones was born to Jessie Pinkerton Jones on July 20, 1937 in Elkhart, Indiana. He grew up and attended school in Benton Harbor, Michigan. He met and married his wife, Milie (Woodruff) Casey in 1969, accepting Milie's young daughter as his own and raised her as such. They were together 43 years. He worked for Gast Mfg. in Benton Harbor, Michigan for 21 years as a machine operator. Later he was a contracted custodian at the Post Office in Watervliet, Michigan for eight years. He lived in Watervliet until he and his wife moved to Texas in 2000 to be near their daughter and grandchildren. He accepted Jesus as his Savior and was baptized in 1985 at Watervliet Community Baptist Church. He was a handyman, car repairman and could fix just about anything. He was a Jack of all trades, a master of none. He loved to help anyone with anything whenever they asked. He loved to travel especially making trips to Texas every year to see his in-laws. He loved to go hiking, camping, canoeing and he loved animals. He enjoyed family picnics at the lake & he loved spending time with family! He could be seen daily, where he and his wife lived, at Chisholm Trail Senior Village riding in his power chair with Princess his beloved dog walking beside him. He loved to chat with the neighbors. He especially enjoyed visiting his friend Patrick. He was always teaching his daughter and grandchildren how to fix things or how to take care of their cars. He loved to attend Sunday school and church and he was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in MPR. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jessie Mercer of Benton Harbor, Michigan and his brother, Richard Mercer of Sydney, Ohio. He is survived by his wife, Milie (Woodruff) Jones of Belton, his daughter, Cheri Peeples and husband, Greg of Temple his sister, Linda Mercer of Benton Harbor, Michigan, four grandchildren, Jenny Zehner, Rickie Peeples and Daphne, Geoffrey Zehner and Trisha, Kristopher Zehner and April all of Temple and six great-grandchildren, Jacob, Tyler, Logan, Nicholas, Eli and Peighton. He will be missed but not forgotten. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Heart Association or Operation Christmas Child.
