

Rolinda Russell Brindley passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on June 25, 2024. Rolinda was born in Temple, Texas on January 25, 1942 to Frances and William Russell. She graduated from Temple High School and the University of Texas at Austin.
Rolinda married Hanes H. Brindley Jr. on July 24, 1965 and their marriage lasted 59 years. Rolinda worked as a math teacher for several years while Hanes attended medical school and completed his orthopedic residency. During this time, they were blessed with 2 boys, Hanes H. Brindley III and Barton Russell Brindley.
They returned to Temple the summer of 1980 when Hanes joined the orthopedic surgery staff at Baylor Scott & White hospital. Rolinda began a long history of community service upon returning to Temple. She was a lifetime member of the Ralph Wilson Youth Club board of directors. She was active in developing the soccer community in Temple and served as the President of the Temple High School soccer booster club several times. She was also a member of the Contemporaries and received the Mary Steele Service award in 1984. In addition, Rolinda served on the Crimestoppers board. After both of her sons graduated from Temple High School, Rolinda served as a math tutor for struggling students in preparation for the state mandated tests in mathematics.
She is survived by her husband, Hanes H. Brindley Jr. and her sons, Hanes H. Brindley III, his wife Anna, and daughters Arabella and Anna Catherine; and Barton Russell Brindley, his wife Ilse, and their children: Colton, Greyson, Mckenna, and Landon; and her 2 brothers Bob Russell and Bill Russell of Round Rock, Texas. She was preceded in death by both parents: William Russell and Frances Madeley and her sister Pam Russell Roberts.
Rolinda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a loyal friend to many. She was also an avid bridge player and gourmet cook. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to: Saint Francis Episcopal Church, The Ralph Wilson Youth Club, or the Baylor Scott & White Department of Orthopedic Surgery. The family is deeply appreciative of her caregivers in the last years of her life; Missy Randolph, Val Richards, Edna Cazales and Baylor Scott & White Hospice.
Memorial services are scheduled for 10:00am Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at St. Francis Episcopal Church, 5001 Hickory Rd, Temple, Texas. Inurnment in the St. Francis columbarium will follow.
