Roy John Moreno

Funeral services for Roy John Moreno, 61, of Temple will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday at St. Luke Catholic Church with Father Justin Nguyen officiating. Burial will be at 1:00 P.M. at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery. Mr. Moreno died Sunday in a Temple hospital. Mr. Moreno was born in Guantanamo Naval Base, Cuba to John Munoz Moreno and Esther Vidal Moreno. He grew up in LaMarque and graduated from High School there. He served in the U. S. Navy during Vietnam and was attached to the Marine Air Guard Unit #16. He was a Purple Heart Recipient. He graduated from St. Lukes Hospital X Ray Technician School in Houston, and worked in that profession for many years. He moved to Temple, from Leander, 2 years ago. He was a Catholic. Survivors include two sons Eric John Moreno of Cedar Park and Jamie John Moreno and wife Sunshine of Temple; one daughter Kristi Moreno Langholtz and husband Gabe of Austin; one sister Cynthia Rose Viator of Houston; two brothers Larry Moreno of Lake Buchanan and Paul Moreno of Florida and five grandchildren Sadie Langholtz, Sosie Langholtz, Maya Moreno, Soleil Moreno and Jamie Moreno Jr. Memorials may be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or the American Cancer Society. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday with Rosary being recited at 7:00 P.M. at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.
