Shirley Paysse was born August 19th, 1944, to John and Lorene Palla in Temple, Texas. After graduating from Temple High School, she received an Associate of Arts degree in Music from Temple Junior College. While there, she represented the college in the All State Choir in Dallas as an Alto. After graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, John Paysse, on June 27th, 1964. Her life's work and passion were her husband, children and grandchildren. Her focus and talent was running an active Christian home. She made the home the center of family life. She provided encouragement, love, support, and discipline, and was a role model and mentor to her family. She taught her children and grandchildren, by serving as an example, of what it meant to be a Christian wife and mother by the life she lived. She was involved in school and church activities, and volunteered with many Temple civic organizations. She and John owned and operated Cen-Tex Fence Company, which they sold in 1998. For over thirty-eight years, she cherished the time she spent with her family at their summer home in Creede, Colorado. Fall was her favorite season in the San Juan Mountains of Southwestern Colorado. She loved to travel, her favorite destinations being the American West, Alaska and Hawaii.
