

Susan Gay Gilmore Parrish, 56, of Zabcikville, Texas, passed peacefully in her sleep on February 20, 2016. Susan was born in Lubbock, Texas on August 8, 1959 to Billy Joe and Anne (Branson) Gilmore. She was raised in Brownfield, Texas and graduated from Brownfield High School in 1977. She attended West Texas State University where she majored in Performing Arts and was a member of the Zeta Zeta Chapter, Delta Zeta Sorority. Susan worked extensively in the banking and financial industries holding positions with Amarillo National Bank in Amarillo, Texas, Finance Center Federal Credit Union in Erlangen, Germany, First Command Financial Services in both Colorado Springs, Colorado and Fairbanks, Alaska. She also worked in the temporary staffing industry managing offices for Manpower, Incorporated in both Greenville and Grenada, Mississippi. In more recent years, Susan served as a Special Education substitute teacher for Rogers, I.S.D. Susan was also a homemaker who enjoyed cross-stitch and collecting cookbooks. True to her eternal optimism, she experimented heavily with growing tomatoes in various mediums though her efforts never bore much fruit. She is survived by her parents, Billy Joe and Anne Gilmore of Decatur, Texas; a brother, Charles Gilmore of Cedar Park, Texas; a sister, Cherryl Gilmore of Brenham, Texas; her husband, Lieutenant Colonel (retired) Gregory M. Parrish of Zabcikville, Texas and two sons: Brendan Parrish of Temple, Texas and Andrew Parrish of Zabcikville, Texas. A memorial service is being held at First United Methodist Church on March 2, 2016 at 10am. After the service, an informal gathering is being held at “Green Door On Second St” from 1100am till 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, either make a donation to your favorite charity in Susan’s name, or a donation to the Bernie Sanders Campaign Fund. Susan proudly wore her “Feel the Bern” t-shirt.
