Susan Noelle Young, sculptor of young minds, distributor of “specials” (Andes Mints), Mother to many, and master of wit wrote the last page in her book on Tuesday, March 22nd, 2016. Her book started on October 6th, 1965 in Hamilton County, Ohio. She bled blue and white in 1983 when she graduated a Wildcat from Temple High School. She completed her crusade for her Bachelors in Education in 1988 from the University of Mary Hardin Baylor. She wouldn’t stop there. Susan decided to obtain her Masters in Education from Columbia College, South Carolina, in 2012, to better mold the minds of all she taught. Her teaching excursion began in Milano, TX in 1990. She ventured through many schools enriching the lives of those with whom she crossed paths. In 2012 she returned to her roots and, as she put it, “completed the TISD middle school trifecta… student at Lamar, teacher at Bonham, and now Travis.” She was an ELA teacher at Travis Science Academy from 2012 to 2016. During this time she lead by example through her perseverance, determination, and stubbornness. Despite her two year clash with cancer Susan stayed #susanstrong and remained in her classroom. She made the decision that Travis Science Academy would be her ultimate stop and closed her classroom door for the final time, February 9th, 2016. She is survived by her son Jason Young, daughter Jodi Fowler and son-in-law Ken, daughter Jordan Nelson and son-in-law Jonathan, and daughter Jessica Young and son-in-law Troy McCoy, mother, Patricia Turner, father George Stansbury and step-mother Carol, sister Shelley Dennis and family, step-brother Steven Turner and family, step-brother Leland Turner and family. She is also survived by her precious treasures: grandchildren Jason Nobel-Young, Jacob and Marcie Fowler, Luke Nelson, Trooper Gerber, Molly Young, and her 7th grandbaby who is on the way, as well as her devoted fur baby, Maisie May (Miss M).
