Tommy Earl Cartwright

Tommy Earl Cartwright, age 83, of Belton, Texas passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at his home in Belton. He was born on March 26, 1940 in Milam County the son of I.L and Fay (Popham) Cartwright.

A visitation will take place on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 from 9:00am until the time of service at 10:00am at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home 3110 Airport Rd. Temple, Texas 76504. Burial will follow at North Belton Cemetery in Belton.

Tommy was a sheet metal mechanic for 36 years retiring from Lockheed Martin in 2001. He served in the National Guard, 36th division and was a member of the American Legion #133in Temple.

Tommy graduated from Temple High School in 1959 and was a member of the football team. He and his former teammates would regularly have breakfast with his former coach from Temple, Coach Cottle. Tommy loved to golf and played as often as he could. He enjoyed playing with his friends at Sammons Golf Club in Temple. He enjoyed Wednesday Bingo and socializing at the Belton Senior Center. Monday night Pickleball with his church family at Belton Church of Christ was also a favorite activity.

Tommy is survived by his children, Danny Cartwright (Chris) of Copperas Cove, Dina DaSilva of San Antonio, step-children, Melissa Everett (Dallas) of Belton, Jerry Macek (John) of Abilene, and Dan Baily, Sr. (Theresa) of Fort Worth, 5 grandchildren, Kasey Gurule, Brittany Clark, Brandon Crandle, Rachael Cartwright, and Barbara Cartwright, and 6 step-grandchildren, Danny Baily, Crystal Guerro, Travis Everett, Paige Lock, Jeff Kirby, Jessica Kellhofer. He is also survived by a sister Linda Richard (Rick) of Temple.

He was preceded in death by his wife Larita, brothers, Donald Wayne and Billy Joe Cartwright, a sister Norma Ruth Lundy and a step-son Stanley Thomas Kirby, Jr.

Tommy was a very generous and loving man and will be greatly missed!
