Troy Taylor

Memorial services for Troy Edward Taylor, 89, of Belton will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday July 14, 2007 at Scanio Harper Funeral Home in Temple with Rev. Richard Gatto officiating. Mr. Taylor died Tuesday in a Temple Nursing Center. Mr. Taylor was born in Covington to William Drew Taylor and Bessie Griffin Taylor. He graduated from Covington High School. He married Edna Lee Jacobs in 1939 in Cleburne, Texas. She preceded him in death in 1981. He married Romona Rae Scarbrough in 1991. He lived in Whitney and Austin before moving to Belton 12 years ago. He worked for the State of Texas as a Maintenance Superintendent at the School For The Deaf in Austin for 21 years having retired in 1977. He was a Master Mason having been a Mason for 54 years. He was a member of Kapital Kats Motorcycle Club in Austin and was an enduro motorcycle racer, having raced motorcycles until the age of 65. He was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by one grandson Laddie Gale (Bubba) Vincik. Survivors include his wife Romona Rae Taylor of Belton; daughter Shirley Martin of Arlington, 2 stepdaughters Mona Sue Lingle and Mindy Cox both of Granbury; step son Toby Scarbrough of Somers, New York; two sisters Ruth Virginia Aldredge of Austin and Mary Kathryn Biggs of Weatherford, one brother Bennie Tom Taylor of Gun Barrel City, six grandchildren Karen, Justin Levi, Christi, Trey, Hannah and Jackson and six great grandchildren Dana, Justin, Amy, Brittany, Bailey and Landry.
