
Mr. William D. (Bill) Hale Sr., 68, of Belton died Monday May 8, 2006 in a Temple Hospital. Services for Mr. Hale will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday May 11, 2006 at the Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple with Rev. Patricia Dietrich officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park. Mr. Hale was born in West Helena, Arkansas the son of Burke Culpepper and Ida Neil Johnson Hale. He attended High School in Munich Germany and graduated from High School in Rabatt, French Morocco. He received a Bachelors Degree form Cameron College in 1974. Mr. Hale joined the U.S. Army in 1959. He served as a Captain and was a decorated Vietnam War veteran serving in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970. He retired from as a major in 1979. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the Purple Heart Association. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Temple. He is survived by his wife Sigrun Hale of Belton three sons Burke Chris Hale of the Woodlands, Texas, William (Bill) Hale Jr. of Belton and Steven John Hale of Belton, Texas. He is survived by his mother Ida Fowler of Temple two sisters Murray Ashley of Belton and Shatzie Eldridge of Granbury and one brother Richard Hale of Grand Prairie, Texas. He is also survived by a stepbrother Kenny Fowler and two stepsisters Karen Greenslate and Helen Houghton and also by five grandchildren Memorials may be made to the Military Order of The Purple Heart Central Texas Chapter #1876, 707 Cedar Oaks Lane Harker Heights, Texas 76548 please denote for William Hale. A family visitation will be held from 6 until 8 pm Wednesday at Scanio-Harper Funeral
