

Albert W. Myers Jr. "Snooky", 80, of Toms River, passed peacefully with his family by his side Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010. Albert was a wonderful example of a family man. He was a loving husband, devoted father, and a proud grandpa who's grandchildren adored him.
Al is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Dolores; daughter, Linda and son-in-law, Joseph O'Neill of Bogota; daughter, Arlene and son-in-law, Joseph Lopez of Parlin; and his seven grandchildren, Cindy, Steven, Danny, Kevin, Matthew, Timothy and Bethany. Al also leaves behind a sister, Carol Cerulli and her husband Jerry; and a brother, Edward Myers. He also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.
Al served for four years in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Macon. He worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad as a conductor until retirement in 1992. He was also a lifetime member of the United Transportation Union. In his retirement, he enjoyed his family, cooking, summers in the Poconos, trips to Disney, his beloved Anna Maria Island, and being a helpful neighbor and friend.
Al was known to his old friends as Snooky and to everyone he knew as a truly one of a kind personality. He enjoyed sharing his stories and jokes with everyone and made everyone around him happy. He will be truly missed but never forgotten since he will be in the hearts of all those of the lives he touched. He truly did have a wonderful life because he was truly a wonderful person.
Visiting will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2 and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3 at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4 at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, Berkeley. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , Memphis, TN.
