Arthur “Artie” Cosmo Perna Jr. died peacefully on the morning of Monday June 8th, with the love and support of his family by his side, at home in Bayville NJ. Artie was 63 years old and born in Paterson NJ, to Milluccia “Milly” and Arthur Perna Sr.
Artie is survived by his beloved wife Sandra Perna of Bayville; daughter Tara Klein of Ramsey; mother Milluccia Perna of Wayne; brother James Perna and his wife Joanne of Wayne; niece Brianna Perna Trzepinska and her husband Christopher of Wayne, nieces Alyssa Perna and her daughter Thea of Wayne. Artie was predeceased by his father Arthur Perna Sr., his late first wife Nina, and his son Jason Perna.
Artie was a proud and dedicated member of the Pipefitters Local Union 274 in Parsippany, working as a pipefitter for 39 years before retiring in 2016 to his house in Bayville. He loved his house on the water and adored his neighbors and lifelong friends, who all became like family to him. Artie loved going fishing, to the beach, and taking long walks with his two dogs Teddy and Bear. He also loved tending to his garden where he was known to have colossal size pieces of spinach that he would hand out to family and friends. Everyone, including Artie, would comment on his quick ability to be the first one on the food line at a gathering and he would joke that he was on a “see-food” diet. Artie touched so many lives around him and helped everyone in need. He was the superman of any job that needed fixing and his personality brightened up any room. You could always count on Artie to make your day just a little bit better by just being in his presence. He made long lasting impressions on everyone he spoke to and all those times will now be savored memories. Artie's big heart was taken away from us way too quickly from cancer; however, although his life was cut short, he always said he lived a fulfilling life with his friends and family. We pray and know Artie is in a better place, finally driving that boat he always hoped he would have, and reconnecting with his loved ones who have passed on.
Funeral arrangements were private and entrusted to Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home in Toms River. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.quinn-hoppingfh.com.
