On Dec 4, 1952, Deborah was born to Sylvia and Louis Perez in Sloane Hospital for Women, NYC.
Deborah, being the first grandchild on both the Miranda and Perez sides of the family, was doted upon by her aunts, Nancy and Gloria. Her toddler years were spent living in a tenement apartment in Spanish Harlem surrounded by generations of extended family.
Soon after, the family moved to Staten Island, an up & coming neighborhood called Mariners Harbor. Here, Deborah completed all her school-aged years attending P.S. 44, Junior High School 51 and Curtis High School where she was accepted into the prestigious Practical Nursing Program of Staten Island, NY in 1970. Upon graduation, she was the recipient of “The Best Nursing Award”.
In 1972 she married and was blessed with her three children- Justina, William (Doc) and Courtne Rose. The family moved to NJ where she continued working as a nurse at Jersey Shore Medical Center while raising her three children. Despite working a full-time job and raising the children, Deborah continued to seek higher goals and, by taking night classes, she was proud to have earned her Bachelor of Science-Nursing degree from Georgian Court College and became a Registered Professional Nurse. As her children grew to follow their own paths, she found time to pursue her real passion - professionally decorating and staging private homes for which she had a keen eye and was inspired to create her own business, “Su Casa” while still working full-time. She loved to shop at thrift stores and would always find unique treasures and proudly say, “guess how much I paid for this?”
In 2009 Deborah focused on and provided medical assistance to her mother, Sylvia, who was diagnosed with cancer. Shortly after Sylvia’s passing, Deborah
discovered that she, too, would be challenged by her own health issues which she handled with grace and dignity.
Despite all, Deborah, as always, was determined to enjoy life which now included spending time in New Jersey and Florida with her grandchildren-Eliana, Xiomara, Soraya, Zoie, Carter, Liam and Landon.
Travel with her cousins was also a joy of Deborah's, leading her to snorkel in the Bahamas, dance in the Dominican Republic, explore the rich history of Rome, Venice and experience the vineyards and olive groves in Tuscany. Returning to her hometown of NYC as a tourist was always an awesome adventure.
Deborah was selfless, always willing to give a helping hand whenever needed.
Deborah was a strong willed, determined and generous person always supporting her family with sage advice and loving guidance. She always smiled when bragging about her children’s and grandchildren’s achievements and successes.
Deborah left this life March 2nd, 2024 at home in Coral Springs, Fl. She is survived by her three wonderful children, Justina, Doc and Courtne Rose; her grandchildren Eliana, Xiomara, Soraya, Zoie, Carter, Liam and Landon.
