

Dennis Edward Fitzgerald, 74, of Barnegat Township, New Jersey, passed away on March 17, 2026. He was born on November 30, 1951, in Jersey City, New Jersey. Dennis was beloved and cherished by all who knew him, remembered for his generous heart, gentle spirit, and humorous way of bringing lightness to everyday moments.
Born in Jersey City, NJ and raised in Westfield, NJ, Dennis graduated from Holy Trinity High School and later graduated from Biscayne University in Florida.
Dennis built a long and dedicated career as a Corporate Account Manager for Verizon, retiring after 30 years of service. He held a professional interest in learning new technologies and building connections, reflecting the curiosity of an engineer like his father and the outgoing nature of his mother. The same thoughtful, kind, and dependable character defined his life beyond work.
A talented and excellent musician, Dennis was an avid guitar and bass player, highlighting his dedication to music and community. A large part of Dennis' personal time was playing in his high school band The Varmints, followed in adulthood by The Troope, Exit 135, and beyond. He was also a lifelong sailing/boating enthusiast, finding joy and peace on the water. His immediate family shared many memories exploring the New Jersey coast, with frequent trips across the Long Island Sound. One of his most cherished destinations was Block Island, where many adventures were had. These memories, and his spirit of goodwill and generosity, proceed his passing.
Dennis was predeceased by his father, Thomas W. Fitzgerald, and his mother, Maureen Fitzgerald. He is survived by his sons, Daniel E. Fitzgerald (Arielle), Sean T. Fitzgerald and their mother Georgette Fitzgerald; his granddaughters, Claire Fitzgerald and Eloise Fitzgerald; his siblings, Thomas W. Fitzgerald (Sharon), Michael Fitzgerald (Lynn), Robert Fitzgerald (Patricia), and Marianne Fitzgerald-Nolan (Joseph); and is also survived by 10 nieces and nephews.
