Elizabeth A. Pugh Smith

Elizabeth A. Smith, 92, of Toms River passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at the Holiday Care Center in Berkeley Township. Born on April 11, 1918 in Ernest, PA to Philip and Janet (Hamilton) Pugh, she lived in Bogota before moving to Toms River.

Mrs. Smith was an office manager for Allied Chemical in New York City. She was a member of the Melodears, the Irish Club, the Singles Club, the Bowlers and the Golfers, all at Holiday City in Toms River. She was an avid Yankee fan, bowler and golfer. Elizabeth was extremely grateful to her friends who gave her rides to bowling.

Mrs. Smith was predeceased by her husband, Patrick Smith. She is survived by her sister, Jean Ellms of Ripley, ME, her sister-in-law, Margaret Smith Wing of Poughkeepsie, NY and her nephew and his wife, Thomas P. and Joann Smith of Lady Lake, FL. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and her good friends, Dorothy Dempsey and John Burns.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, August 1, 2010 from 3 to 6pm at the Quinn- Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River, NJ. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11am at the funeral home. Interment to follow in Ocean County Memorial Park in Toms River. In lieu of flowers the family requests an act of kindness be done in her name.
