Howard C. Lanno age 81 of Toms River and formerly of Union passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday September 10th. He retired after 27 years as a Captain of the Union Police Department. He served in the National Guard for 4 years. Howard enjoyed vacationing in Lake George, planes, antique cars and was the proud owner of a 1972 Buick Electra. Born in Newark, he was a resident of Union for 54 years before moving to Toms River last year. Howard was a loving and caring man. He was predeceased by his siblings William, Elmer, Florence Ennis and Oliver. Surviving are his wife of 54 years Joanne Fedorczyk Lanno and many nieces and nephews. Visiting will be Friday from 4-8 pm at the Quinn Hopping Funeral Home 26 Mule Rd. Toms River. A funeral service will be held 10 am Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River.
