

January 7th, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 15, 1937 and grew up
in Palisades Park, NJ with his Mom and his dog Rusty. Jim was a proud American and in 1957
he enlisted in the US Navy. He served on the USS Yorktown as an Aviation Boatswain’s Mate
but quickly became Aircraft Director, Spotter and Crew Leader. He was a proud United States
Navy Veteran, a Business Agent for the Teamsters Local 177 and a retired UPS driver, where
he made many lifelong friends.
Jim loved sitting around the table with his family and laughing over old stories for hours. He
cherished his family and loved fishing and hunting with his boys and grandkids. He also enjoyed
getting together for his regular golf outings and weekly card games with his buddies.
Jim will be forever missed by his beloved wife of 62 years, Barbara, and children Jim Jr., wife
Kate, Michael and the “Apple Of His Eye”, Kelli Ann. He is predeceased by his mother Alice
Charlotte Parkyn.
He was a proud “Pop Pop” and adored his Grandchildren: Katie Ann, Oliver, Cory, Abaigeal and
Ian, and Great Grandchildren; Riley and Morgan. He was a fantastic Uncle to many nieces and
nephews.
We are all “Richer” for having him in our lives and we are proud to call him our Dad, Husband,
Friend, Brother-in-law, Uncle and Pop.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday March 21, 2022 from 10:00 am to 12:00 AM at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home Home 26 Mule Road Toms River, NJ 08755. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church at 12:30 PM.
