
John W. MacFarlane, Jr., 83, of Toms River, NJ passed away on Tuesday Sept. 23, 2014 at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ. Born in Linden, he lived in Jackson, NJ for 44 years before moving to Toms River 14 years ago. He worked for over 35 years as a truck driver for Clayton Concrete retiring in 1996.
John was predeceased by his first wife Nancy and his brother Richard “Murph” MacFarlane. He is survived by his domestic partner Margaret “Maggy” Potter and her children, Paul and his wife Margaret Potter, Blair and his wife Missy Potter and Stephanie Potter; 7 grandchildren; Brittany, Tayloranne, Blair, Codey, Jason, Blake, and McKenzie. Also surviving are his own children Bonnie MacFarlane, John MacFarlane, and Craig and his wife Suzanne MacFarlane; 3 grandchildren Craig, Jr., James, and Heather; and two brothers Douglas and Alan MacFarlane.
Visiting hours will be held from 12 to 3 PM on Saturday Sept 27th at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home 26 Mule Road, Toms River, NJ 08755. A funeral service will take place in the funeral home at 2:45 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in John’s memory to the Associated Humane Society/ Popcorn Park Zoo 1 Humane Way Forked River, NJ 08731.
