

John J. Potter age 91 of Toms River, formerly of Staten Island, died Sunday September 9th at Community Medical Center, Toms River. He was a Bank Manager for most of his career with Chemical Bank serving the business community of Staten Island. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army. John was a parishioner of St. Maximilian R. C. Church, Berkeley Twp. and Holy Child R. C. Church, Staten Island and he was a member of the Lions Club of Staten Island. John was an artist, an avid reader and he enjoyed music. Born in Stamford, CT, he lived in the Bronx, Brooklyn and for 30 years in Staten Island before moving to Toms River in 1991. He was predeceased by his daughter in law Coleen. Surviving are his wife of 64 years Theresa, 2 sons Thomas of Staten Island and Jeffrey and his wife Laura of Middletown, 6 grandchildren Thomas, Jr., Jessica, Stacey, Jonathan, Kevin and Matthew.
Visiting will be Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Quinn Hopping Funeral Home 26 Mule Rd. Toms River. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered 10:30 AM Wednesday at St. Maximilian Kolbe R. C. Church, Berkeley Twp. Burial will follow at the Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to Community Medical Center Foundation, 99 Route 37 West, Toms River, NJ 08755.
