Joseph M. Schiavone

Dr. Joseph M. Schiavone DDS, 77, of Berkeley Township, NJ, passed away on Friday, June 10, 2011, at his home. Born in Newark, he lived in Oakhurst, NJ for 37 years before moving to the Holiday City Heights section of Berkeley Twp. 14 years ago. Joseph was a graduate of Verona High School, Franklin and Marshall College, and the charter class of Seton Hall College of Medicine and Dentistry in Jersey City. Joseph had his own private dental practice in Oakhurst, NJ for 31 years before retiring in 1991. He was a communicant of St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, Toms River.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Theresa Vincelli Schiavone; a daughter, CarolAnn Harkavy and her husband Michael of Monmouth Junction, NJ; two sons, Michael J. Schiavone and his wife Krista of Wayne, NJ and Joseph M. Schiavone, Jr. and his wife Julie of Raleigh, NC. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren; David and Allison Harkavy, Christopher, Matthew, Natalie and Mia Nicole Schiavone.

Visiting hours will be Wednesday, June 15th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home 26 Mule Road, Toms River, NJ 08755. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday June 16th at St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church at a time to be determined. Interment will follow at Woodbine Cemetery in Oceanport, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joseph’s memory to either the Deborah Heart and Lung Hospital or to the Van Dyke Hospice at Community Medical Center.
