Joseph G. Stoffel

Joseph was born on December 9, 1952 in Brooklyn to Joseph P. Stoffel and Marie Morrongiello. He grew up in Brooklyn, NY and attended Bishop Laughlin High School, Baruch College, and a brief stint at Fordham University.

He worked for the New York State Attorney General’s Office as an accountant for over twenty years. Outside of work, he was known for love of Jets, Mets, and the Islanders, and being disappointed by them every season. Those who knew him will remember him for the love he held for his family, his kindness to everyone he met, and for his laughter that would fill the room.

Joseph is survived by his wife Santa Stoffel; son Daniel Stoffel, daughter Leonor Aviles, son Daniel Aviles, and daughter Melissa Palow; granddaughter Alicia Beringer, grandson Zachary Aviles, grandson Aiden Aviles, grandson Jeffery Palow; great-granddaughter Eileen Beringer; and sister RoseMary Fuller. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph P. Stoffel, his mother Marie Morrongiello, and his sister JoAnn Scholl.

Visitation will be held from 2:30 pm to 7:30 pm on Monday February 2, 2026 at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home 26 Mule Road Toms River, NJ 08755. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:30 PM on Tuesday February 3, 2026 at St Mary of the Pines RCC 100 Bishop Lane Manahawkin, NJ 08050. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery 283 Beachview Avenue Manahawkin, NJ 08050.
