

Leonard John Frisaro, 88, of Toms River, passed away Friday, July 1, 2011 at home surrounded by his family, after a valiant battle with cancer. Son of Mauro and Nicoletta (Graziani) Frisaro, he was raised in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. Leonard and his wife Rosaria (Sadie) moved to New City, NY in 1959 where they raised their 4 children and then settled in Toms River, NJ in 1987. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy Armed Guard during WWII. After retiring from a career as a heating and air conditioning installer in NYC and active member of the Plumbers Local Union No.1, he worked for many years at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home in Toms River. He was a long time member of St. Maximilian Kolbe R.C. Church. He enjoyed cooking for Tuesday Bingo at the church as well as Holiday City South Monday night bingo for many years. Leonard was a fun loving man dedicated to his family, many friends, hobbies, and sports teams.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Rosaria (Messina) Frisaro of Toms River; his son Leonard A. Frisaro and his wife Patricia of Birmingham, AL, his daughter Maureen and her husband Douglas Platt of Island Heights, NJ., his son Joseph and his wife Frieda of Cooper City, FL and his daughter Rosemary and her husband Brian Kessler of Manhattan, NY. He is also survived by 8 loving grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Grace Camizzi of New City, NY in 2009.
Leonard was a long-time member of the VFW Berkeley Post 10185, the BPO Elks Lodge #2290 and the Italian-American National Hall of Fame.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River, with funeral services on Wednesday at 10:30 at Saint Maximilian Kolbe R.C. Church, Toms River, followed by interment at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Van Dyke Hospice, Community Medical Center, Toms River, or the American Cancer Society.
