Nancy D. Spataro, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and caring friend, passed away peacefully on the evening of January 20, 2026, surrounded by family at her home in Toms River. She was 92 years old.
Nancy was born on March 25, 1933, in Schenectady, New York, and attended Albany High School. She met the love of her life, James, and together they raised a beautiful family. Nancy was a loving mother to her three daughters, Diane, Dolores, and Michele.
She enjoyed home economics, where she learned to sew and cook, skills she carried with her throughout her life. Nancy also played the piano, loved to read, and enjoyed writing poetry. She even spent time working on her own novel.
Nancy retired from Johnson and Johnson, where she worked as a librarian. She and James loved to travel and lived life to the fullest before eventually settling in Toms River. She treasured time spent with her dear friends, bowling, playing cards and mahjong, and enjoyed bus trips to plays, shows, and landmark destinations. One of her favorite pastimes was visiting Atlantic City. Above all else, she cherished family picnics and loved watching her grandchildren grow and celebrate their accomplishments.
Nancy was predeceased by her loving husband James V. Spataro, beautiful daughters Michele and Dolores, and brother Dominick Quaglieri.
She is survived by her loving daughter Diane Barna, sister Jeannette Szczepkowski, son-in-law Stan Czuprewicz, grandchildren Anthony Czuprewicz, David Barna, his sons Alex, Matt and Adam, Christina Geist, her husband Matthew, and sons Brian and Mark, her nieces and nephews, along with many dear friends.
Nancy’s legacy lives on through the family she loved and the lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the smiles she brought to everyone she met.
A private memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, where she will be laid to rest.
The Gift
Here’s a little angel, sent to watch over you,
Keep it in your mind, to your heart be true.
At times you maybe sad, or a little down,
But this little angel, will always be around.
Just think of it and you’ll soon see,
A smile it will bring, because it came from me.
Love Nancy <3
