Robert (Bob) Daniele passed away peacefully on December 14th 2022 in Belvidere, NJ. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Geraldine. He leaves behind three loving children (Gina Geilim, Robert Daniele II (Duke), and Chris Ann Monahan), five loving grandchildren (Sara Seipel, Robert Daniele III (Rob), William Monahan, Steven Monahan and Max Geilim) along two loving great grandchildren (Alyssa and Ben Seipel).
Bob was born and raised in Cliffside Park, NJ in 1929 to Aniello & Marie (Alfano) Daniele. He was the youngest and only son of their five children. His four sisters, Sue Iadone, Lucy Carrelle , Mary Katchen, and Josephine Jesuele also preceded him in death.
Bob graduated from Cliffside Park High School in 1947 where was known as the “Hawker” for his basketball skills. He joined the Air Force where he met his wife Geraldine Mattson from Chicago. They were married in Reno, Nevada and lived in California until they moved back to New Jersey with their first child Gina. After running the family delicatessen in Cliffside Park for several years Bob moved the family to Westwood, NJ where he opened a deli, pizzeria, and catering business. After several years of 18 hour workdays, Bob found his calling as a salesman for B&G Pickles. Putting 50,000 miles per year on his Plymouth Fury III, he would stop at virtually every supermarket and wholesaler in NJ to sell the B&G product line. He was very passionate about his job but did always make time to stop at one of his many favorite hot dog stands for lunch each day. As a hardworking father of three, he also bartended several nights a week at the Riviera Lounge in Hackensack to make ends meet.
As he neared retirement, he and Gerry moved to Holiday City in Toms River, NJ. When his beloved wife Gerry passed (way too young) he found companionship and married a long time family friend who coincidentally had the same name, Geraldine (Hammett). After Gerry II passed in early 2022, he moved into the Chelsea Senior Living facility. Bob was a devoted loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Family was very important to him and he remained close with his extended family of nieces, nephews and their children. He also had many close friends spanning his entire life.
He was loved by everyone he met with his smile, generosity, kindness and great sense of humor.
He will be sincerely missed by all.
A Vistation will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the QUinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Rd., Toms River. A Service will begin promptly at 11:45 PM and the Interment will follow to St. Joseph's Cemetery, Toms River.
