Stanley S. Szymanski, 74, of Toms River, entered into rest on May 21, 2026, at home with his family by his side. Born in Jersey City on October 2, 1951, to the late Walter and Elizabeth Szymanski, Stan grew up in Jersey City and later lived in Bayonne before moving to Toms River in 2014. A proud graduate of Dickinson High School, he worked for many years as head custodian for Jersey City Public Schools at Snyder High School, retiring in 2006.
Stan enjoyed the simple pleasures in life and made them look like an art form. He loved fishing, wrestling, cooking, and gardening, and he never passed up a chance to be near the water. He took great joy in going on cruises and was a longtime member of the Bayonne Yacht Club. A devoted (and endlessly patient) New York Mets fan, he stuck with his team through every high and low. Stan adored his sons and will be fondly remembered for his sharp sense of humor, quick wit, and his talent for being the family jokester.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Steven Szymanski.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife, Deborah; his sons Mark and his wife, Barbara, and Craig and his wife, Nancy; his five cherished grandchildren and four beloved great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly. He will also be missed by his beloved Maltese Buddy and cockatiel Peanut.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Quinn Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River, NJ.
Relatives and Friend are invited to attend the Funeral on Friday, May 29th, gathering at the funeral home at 9:00 a.m. A Funeral Mass will take place at 10:00 a.m. at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, 130 St Maximilian Ln, Toms River, NJ. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.
