

Born in Brooklyn, NY on April 23, 1931, she grew up in Verona, NJ and resided in Hobe Sound, FL, and Cranford, NJ.
Virginia was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, John R. Ball Jr.; her parents, Vincent Ehrler and Virginia A. (Stafford) Ehrler; and a brother.
Surviving are her daughters: Susan M. Dooley (Thomas), Cathy Ann Ball, VMD, Elizabeth Edlund (George); her son John R III; eight grandchildren: Thomas E. “Ted” (Teresa) Dooley, Michael P. (Shanna) Dooley, Bridget Mary Dooley, John R. “Jake” Ball IV (Winnie), Bryan J. Ball, Michael P. Ball (Deb), Kiersten M. Edlund and George D. “Deems” Edlund; four great-grandchildren: Connor, Aedan, Dasan, and Gianna; and three nieces. She was a devoted daughter and sister, great wife, and the most wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Virginia graduated from Mount Saint Dominic Academy, Caldwell, NJ in 1949, where she played basketball and was a high scorer for many seasons. After graduation, she worked in an insurance office; while on a holiday at the Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk, she met her husband, John. After marrying in Caldwell on November 10, 1951, Virginia was a stay-at-home mom to her four children. She reentered the work force as a part-time teller for Suburban Trust in Cranford, then full time for the bank branch in Springfield, NJ. One of her accounts at the bank was for TAG Heuer Swiss Luxury Watch Company, where she was hired as the accounts receivable manager. She worked for the TAG Heuer Company until retiring in 1992. After retiring, she moved to Hobe Sound, FL. Virginia continued to work in NJ during the summer at Monmouth Park Race Track in the Admissions Department for 17 years and was a popular fixture in the picnic area section of the of the grandstand.
Virginia became an avid, skillful golfer while living in a golfing community in Hobe Sound with her husband. While residing there, she won many tournaments with her team. Virginia also always loved swimming and going to the beach.
Virginia was a communicant of St. Michaels Church, Cranford, NJ, St. Christopher’s, Hobe Sound, FL, and most recently St. William the Abbot in Howell, NJ.
A visitation will be held from 4-8PM on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Rd, Toms River, NJ. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. William the Abbot Catholic Church, 2740 Allenwood Lakewood Rd, Howell Township, NJ at 10:30AM on Thursday, December 30, 2021.
