Aldwyn was born on September 18, 1918 in Trinidad and achieved the advanced milestone of 106 years, 8mths and 27days. Dad enjoyed seeing people’s reactions to his age. At funerals, he would jokingly say “I beat another one”.
Dad left Trinidad at a young age to accompany his cousins to China. He spoke often of his childhood spent playing ball with all his cousins. Dad later returned to Trinidad to help support his mother and siblings. He was hard-working, dedicated and spent years managing the Hardware Division of Marlay & Co, in Sangre Grande. Despite his many responsibilities, he always made time for his family. He had the foresight to immigrate to Canada to provide more opportunities for the family. Family and friends often spoke of Dad’s integrity, kindness, generosity and willingness to help friends and family alike.
Aldwyn will always be remembered as the devoted husband of Helen. Loving father of Edison, Donna, Wilson and Tricia.
