Beverley Ruth Terrell-Deutsch was born on August 4, 1948, and died on March 17, 2026, at the age of 77. A beloved, compassionate, and thoughtful presence in the lives of many, she leaves behind a quiet legacy of care, curiosity, and words that linger. She will be remembered by those who loved her knew her as steady, attentive, and deeply human.
Beverley’s life unfolded with purpose and gentle determination: an educator who became a psychologist, and a writer who understood how a well-chosen sentence can hold both truth and tenderness. Her work and her way of being reflected the same impulse—to listen closely, to make room for others, and to offer understanding where it was needed most.
She shared her life with her devoted husband Bob Deutsch, and she is lovingly remembered by her brother Glenn Terrell (Jeannette). She will also be missed by her nieces and nephew Elizabeth, Jeff (Lesley McMahon), Kimberley, and her nephew in law Richard Javier, and by her great nieces and nephews Deanne, Ewan, Gavin, Andrew, Nathan, Jessica, Jonathan, and Aria, and her great-great niece and nephew Madeline and James. Along with many extended family members and friends whose lives were shaped by her kindness and presence. She will be deeply missed by her faithful, Havanese, companion, Amy.
Beverley rejoins in eternity her beloved mother Ruth, her cherished brother Paul, Paul's wife Becky, and her niece Heather.
Beverley was an active member of Thornhill United Church, where faith, community, and service met the everyday world with open hands. As a writer, she also left a living trace of her voice—one that can still be heard in her reading of a passage from her book: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=seoZjN3oJbY
In the stillness that follows loss, words can become a place to rest. One passage that reflects the peace so many wish for her now comes from Proverbs 3:24: “When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.”
Services for Beverley will be held on Saturday March 28, 2026 at Thornhill United Church 25 Elgin Road in Thornhill. Friends are invited to call at 10 am for a period of visitation and her service will follow at 11 am. She will be rested in the spring in her family plot in Thornton Union Cemetery in Thornton, Ontario. Please refer to this notice following April 22, 2026 for a date set.
