It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved sister, Charlotte Elizabeth Lynch. Born January 31, 1957, to Ernest John Lynch and Lannie Helen Lynch. Charlotte is predeceased by her parents and brother-in-law Gordon, and survived by siblings Maureen (Don), Robert (Laura), Kathy and Natalie (Craig), niece Bronwyn, and nephews Christian (Guin) Christopher (Jessica), Travis (Nadine) and Sebastian (Emmie).
Charlotte was blessed to have many dear friends who played a central role in her life, adding immeasurable richness. The family expresses gratitude to those who were there when she needed them most, especially Mike, Roberta, Lily, Mark, Anne, Brien Cathy and Mary Anne, as well as to her building co-op and Second Mile Club friends.
Charlotte was a business and photography graduate of Ryerson. While working in accounting, and attending U of T for her RIA certification, she changed career directions after realizing her passion for photography. As a professional photographer, her love for tall ships, botanicals, and water resulted in an impressive catalogue of images. Our sister was also a hobbyist poet, singer, songwriter, guitar and piano player. She appreciated all types of music but especially admired the works of Gordon Lightfoot.
Charlotte valued her volunteer roles with the JCC, MS Society and her co-op. Being an avid writer, reader and learner, she regularly completed the New York Times’ Sunday Crossword puzzle. She loved chocolate, anything purple, had a wonderful sense of humour, and adored her cats Sylvester and Riley. Charlotte thought children were amazing. She loved those within her family and those of friends, and respected parents who loved, protected, and nurtured them. Her belief in human equality and goodness was, in her opinion, partly formed and affirmed by the original Star Trek series in which each person had an integral role to play and that, “the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few”.
MS was part of Charlotte’s life for more than 40 years. Towards the end, it confined her days, making small tasks arduous, however MS did not define her. To the end, she chose to fill her heart with kindness, empathy, generosity and gratitude for a life filled with blessings. The poem, “Desiderata”, was an inspiration to her; and was a proverbial “rudder” to her life’s journey. In God’s mercy, may she be rewarded with eternal life.
The family expresses gratitude to Charlotte’s private PSWs Joynie and Geralyn who assisted her in Toronto for several years. Recently, at Lakeridge Gardens Long-term Care, a dedicated team of professionals and her private caregivers Ilene and Michelle strove to make the last months of Charlotte’s life more comfortable, and her last days filled with kindness, allowing peace to fill her heart. We thank everyone who supported Charlotte over the years with love, friendship, helping hands, kindness and prayers.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the MS Society would be greatly appreciated.
Visitation for Charlotte will be held Saturday, November 1, 2025 from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Homes, 6191 Yonge Street, Toronto, ON M2M4K4, followed by a Memorial Service from 11:00 AM. Luncheon & Musical Remembrance will follow.
*** As you plan to attend Charlotte's services, please consider wearing her favourite colour purple in memory of her. ***
