I am very sad to hear of Toni's passing. She was a pillar of the Northminster's choir with a strong true voice, a wicked sense of humor and vibrant personality. She had her share of adversity, but she had such a positive attitude towards life. My thoughts are with you, Valerie. I know you have taken such good care of your mother all these years. Hopefully, that and lots of good memories will bring you comfort.

When the Belles of Yesteryear came to Northminster one year, Toni leaned over and whispered, "Promise me when my voice starts to wobble you will tell me to stop singing."  I can honestly say that day never came, because Toni's voice remained robust and on pitch until the day Northminster United closed down.  How many times was I reduced to tears when Toni sang so expressively?  Especially during concerts where my favorite was "If I loved you."  
It's possible I loved Toni's sense of humour more than I loved her voice;  Toni always made me laugh with her crusty comments, hilarious stories and her infectious giggle.  Not to mention when she would trade bad jokes with my dad without any encouragement! So many fun times with your mom.  
Valerie, your mom will always be in my heart as a fellow chorister, as a second mom, and as an upbeat energetic soul.  100 years is an amazing run.  We will all miss Toni and cherish our memories of her. As well as reuniting with Ross and David, I hope she can track down Elvis too!

I have known Elvera for many years singing in the Northminster Choir since my wife and I joined the church in 1981. At choir parties Elvera used to sing Little Brown Owl on request.

This special lady and I go back almost 55 years. We would talk on the phone every morning at 10:00 and after maybe 30 mins or so of chatting one of us would say do you have time for a walk. That was our ritual. She was my solid rock when I needed her most. Rest in peace my friend you will be sadly missed. 

We are so sorry to hear of Toni’s passing.  We enjoyed her friendship at Northminster United Church for many years.  Hearing about her serenading those around her right until the end of her days made us smile. We will remember her fondly and send our condolences to Valerie. Unfortunately, we are unable to attend the funeral since we will be away that week.
