He is also survived by his sister, Vashti, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who held him in high regard.
Ernest was predeceased by his son, Kevin Fidd (2018), and his sister, Inez.
Born in Jamaica on August 29, 1947, Ernest lived a life shaped by strength, discipline, and an unwavering faith in Yahweh. A skilled upholsterer by trade, he believed deeply in hard work, responsibility, and doing things properly. Through perseverance and sacrifice, he migrated to Canada and later brought his family forward, establishing a foundation rooted in stability, faith, and resilience. He will be remembered as a devoted father and grandfather, a man of quiet strength, and someone who led by example rather than words.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to those who provided care, compassion, and comfort during Ernest’s final days.
A private service will take place by invitation only.
Condolences and messages of comfort may be shared with the family through the funeral home’s website. www.kanejerrettnorthyork.ca
