Frances (Miriam) Alberta Harney was born on March 17, 1937, in the Emerald Isle of Victoria Village, Montserrat to the parents of Penelope Parson and John Harney. Miriam was born and raised into a strong Christian and God-fearing household.
During her childhood years, Miriam attended St. Mary Government School in Plymouth, Montserrat. She knew that she wanted to pursue higher education and she would realize this with her eyes set on going to Canada.
Miriam immigrated to Canada in June 1966 and settled in Toronto, Ontario, where she started to work right away in administrative roles to get herself established in Canada. Shortly after, Miriam was hired at Revenue Canada today known as Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) in 1967. She started as a secretary and worked her way to an Adjudicator, where she made decisions for tax claims. Miriam worked at CRA for 37 years of dedicated service and retired in 2004.
Miriam was also a very faithful member of the Oakwood Wesleyan Church, where she worked in various Ministries throughout the years. She was involved with Junior Church, Vacation Bible School, she served as Sunday School Teacher, the Women's Ministry and the Cummer House outreach. She was a member of the Oakwood Wesleyan Church for over 55 years.
Miriam is pre-deceased by Lilian, Viola (Mary), Sarah and Amelia (Hennie). She is survived by her brothers, John and William, and her sisters Rose (Anne) and Catherine.
