

Beloved son of Hugh and Frances Sloan (both dec), much loved wife and dance partner of Dorothy Joan Sloan (dec), treasured father of Alastair, Gillian and Iain (Boetie) (dec), cherished Oupa of Olivia, Nicholas, William, Mitchell, Cameron, Ella and Piper.
Dr Sloan first arrived in Toronto in 1960 and worked at Hospital for Sick Children as Anaesthetist and Deputy Chief to Department of Anaesthesia until 1999 including President of Medical Staff and Board member from 1990 to 1992.
Jeremy was consultant on Anaesthesia to Hospital for Sick Children and in Neonatology & Paediatrics to Sunnybrook and Women’s College Hospital. He was Associate Professor at the University of Toronto, and Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Royal College of Physicians of Canada. He was also credentialed by the American Academy of Pain Management. He was Board member of the African Medical Research Foundation and volunteered his services in South-east Asia and Central America.
Jeremy was awarded the highly prestigious John Jenkins Award in 2001 for his service to the Canadian Standards of Practice for Anaesthesia in Canada since 1963, Chairman of the Technical Committee on Anaesthesia Equipment from 1985 until retirement and successfully promoted these standards to be adopted worldwide.
Jeremy was a Paediatric Anaesthetist & Deputy Chief of Anaesthesia at Hospital for Sick Children & Pain Specialist in Toronto from 1960 to 2016, honoured advocate of Canadian & International Anaesthesia Standards, active volunteer on international medical missions, avid sheep farmer, wool grader, danced with Dorothy in Toronto’s Scandinavian & Dutch folk dance groups and volunteer with Travellers Aid.
Friends and colleagues are invited to attend his funeral service to be held at The Danish Lutheran Church of Toronto, 72 Finch Avenue West on Thursday 9 January at 11.00am followed by reception at the Danish Church.
