Iu-Rhen Hwang

IU-RHEN Eugene Hwang, well-known by his friends as Professor Hwang, age 91, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 26, 2024. Prof. Hwang is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Tak Hie (Daisy). He had a brother, Stephen Hwang, a dentist, and a sister, Dana, a pharmacist.

Prof. Hwang was a lover of music in his whole life. He graduated from Sydney Conservatory of Music with a degree in Voice. And he became a well-known voice teacher in Hongkong. In 1994, Prof. Hwang and his wife, Daisy, moved to Toronto, Canada, for their retirement. Even during his retirement, he had never stopped his passion for music and continued teaching voice to many students.

Other than music, Prof. Hwang was a devout follower of Jesus. Everyday, he spent his early morning time reading the Scripture passages (a long with one page of dictionary).

Prof. Hwang is loved by all his friends and students. The memory of Prof. Hwang will live forever in our heart. Even though we have to say good-bye to him at this time, but this is just a temporary good-bye. We are looking forward to meet him again in Heaven.

A visitation for Iu-Rhen will be held Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Homes, 6191 Yonge Street, Toronto, ON M2M4K4, followed by a funeral service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
