

Jean John passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family, on January 3, 2025.
Jean was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many. An educator who dedicated over 30 years shaping young minds and inspiring generations, in her country of birth Trinidad & Tobago, and Canada with the Toronto District School Board. Jean was a devoted Seventh-day Adventist Christian, she loved and worshiped the Lord with all her heart and soul. She was a member of the Willowdale Seventh-day Adventist Church for 60 years and served in the children and Pathfinders ministries.
A devoted wife, she is survived by her loving husband, Arnold, her cherished daughter Ruth, her adored grandson Brandon (and his fiancée Kayla), and precious great grandchildren, Myles and Sahra.
Born to late parents Robert and Constance (Daisy) White, Jean is survived by her dear sisters Olive (children Howard, Crawford, Angela, Allan and his wife Joan, Jenny, Joan, June and her husband Michael) and Merle (children Alvin, Alistair, Anson and his wife Crystal). Her other siblings Robin (survived by son Gerry) and Gloria (and her husband Lance) have all preceded her, and were a constant source of love and joy in her life; as they all were.
She is also survived by many beloved cousins, great nieces, great nephews, and extended family members, including:
- Cousins: Handel, Hazel, Harmon, Hayden
- Niece in love: Buelah (children Nerissa, Justin and granddaughter Alisa)
A pillar of strength for her family, Jean was unwavering in her dedication and love for those who surrounded her. Her nurturing spirit and infectious kindness were the foundation upon which her family thrived.
Jean’s passion for teaching was evident in every lesson and every interaction. She believed in the power of education to transform lives and worked tirelessly to ensure that every student reached their fullest potential.
Jean's dedication, kindness, generosity, warmth and wisdom touched the lives of everyone she met, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life at Willowdale Seventh-day Adventist Church on January 15, 2025. Visitation at 10 AM followed by the service at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jean’s memory to the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care and the Alzheimer’s Society Toronto reflecting her generous heart and commitment to helping others.
Jean, who was the embodiment of warmth and compassion, will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
