We also thank her caregivers at North York General Hospital, Bridgepoint, and the staff, especially the PSW’s, at her retirement home.
Born to Stan and Eva O’Brien in Montreal, Quebec, Patricia was the eldest of four children. She will be sadly missed by her sister Beverley (Prichard), and brother William, and is pre-deceased by her brother George, and bother-in-law Edward Prichard. Patricia was married to the late Wilfred Alexander Mac Donald, and celebrated more than 50 years of matrimony, prior to his passing. She was a devoted wife and friend to him, especially during his final years of illness. Patricia was a loving mother to Laura Lynch (Robert) and Craig MacDonald (Natalie), while also having a successful career in management. With the encouragement of her husband, she advanced her career with intelligence, strength, integrity and elan, while developing and mentoring colleagues. Although she left Montreal in the mid-seventies, she retained a deep fondness for the city of her youth.
Patricia was a devoted Catholic and demonstrated great generosity. She supported many charities and had an extensive volunteer history, including being a former president of the Mabel Hubbard club at Bell Canada and of her local CWL chapter.
She was a voracious reader, had a talent for writing and a love of the various arts. Gatherings with her children and grandchildren are fondly remembered as being filled with her intelligent observations on a wide range of topics from history and current events to the arts, sports, and religion. Patricia was a matriarch; nothing in this world transcended her love for her children, grand-children and great- grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren Christian (Guin), Bronwyn, Sebastian (Amelia), Christopher (Jessica) and Travis (Nadine) and her great-grandchildren, Florian, Freyja, Alexandra, Emily, Cate, and James. In her life she loved and positively impacted many lives and will be truly missed by all her nieces and nephews and extended family.
