It is with great sorrow that our family has lost its steadfast rock. Our father, Ronald Porter, husband of the late Jean Porter for 67 years, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026 in presence of his first-born grandchild Danielle.
Ron was an adventurous sort, determined to start a new life in Canada for his wife and two children, leaving Leicester, England for Toronto in 1956. He was hired by the W.F. Clifton & Company, the holders of Plumbing License #001 in the City of Toronto. It was his first job in Canada, and over time he eventually owned the Company.
He was a master plumber and enjoyed helping all who needed him - from small homeowners with a broken tap, to large hospitals with broken toilets! Throughout his time, two more children blessed the family lifelong friendships were formed (Nora and Eric Peek) and life was good.
Ron and Jean enjoyed travelling abroad and stateside, ballroom dancing, and numerous bus tours. Ron had a passion for stained glass. With Jean, he shared a love of gardening, and even received the "Garden of Distinction" award from the City of Toronto; one only had to drive by their lovely home to understand why.
Preceded in death by his daughter Shirley (1976) and his wife Jean (2016), he will be greatly missed by his brother John in England. Also left to mourn are his son Graham (Sylvia), daughter Patricia (Greg), and his son Jeffery (Lori); grandchildren Danielle (Andy), Lindsay (Gus), Rene, Kyle (Natalie), Heather, Michael, Jack, and Sydney; great-grandchildren Braydon, Carter, Ben, Miles, William, Michael, Robert, Mabel, and Owen.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday January 21, 2026, at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Homes, located at 6191 Yonge Street in North York. Visitation will begin at 10 am with a Service to follow at 11 am.
Condolences may be made at www.kanejerrettnorthyork.ca.
To honour Ron's memory, donations to North York General Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
