I am so sorry for such a great loss.  I worked for Yolanda for 5 years.   I learned many lessons from her that I use today and would even say I have Yolanda's voice reminding me of these lessons.  The greater joy of working with Yolanda was the limited times we went out to lunch.  Talking about life, food, relationships, children and history.  One of the most interesting people I have ever worked with.  I last ran into Yolanda some years ago down town and she was still that warm smiling person and remembered details that surprised me of our conversations and life.  Another great memory.

Yolanda has been a very good friend. We have known each other for quite a while, when our children were small. One of the first memories I have is of Yolanda and Horia in the subway car holding hands – I met them often as I guess we were having a similar route to work, and most of the time there they were, holding hands.

She knew how to listen and what to say so that I felt that she heard and understood whatever I was going through – this is a rare quality and I already miss her and our talks dearly. She was many times quite direct in expressing what she thought and I knew that in the majority of times she was right. Serge and I were jokingly telling her that the directness as well as her outstanding discipline was a result of having gone through the Israeli army. Not many people could fit so many things in a day.

Yolanda and Horia, Serge and I took a wonderful trip together to Portugal. Yolanda was a perfect researcher and together we planned in detail every step and it was worth it. I recall how much she enjoyed it and how hungry she was to see as much as possible. I was taking it easy regarding waking up in the morning as that was my holiday from work. Yolanda and Horia, once they understood that I was not keeping up with the wake-up time would very nicely help with breakfast and then leave early – we would meet later, she somehow felt that she must take advantage of every minute.

Of course the dinners, all her friends were so lucky to be invited to such a perfect table and such creative and perfect meals. 

We shared the love of walking and hiking on trails but she and Horia were usually the initiators, I miss her company and sense of adventure and physical courage. If we were hiking on a rough terrain she would be the first to look if other hikers need help and offer it.

What an amazing friend I lost, I know I will keep thinking of Yolanda and imagine what she would do or say in situations I will be in, we will continue to be close, this way.

I would like you to take with you on your infinite new journey that you are now about to make it alone, the thought that you leave in the souls of those who remain behind and who had the enormous joy of having known you, the image of a remarkable human being, remarkable in her joy of life, remarkable in  her generosity, remarkable in  her devotion to her family and to her friends.  The image of a fulfilled woman, a woman of  unique verticality and of an equally unique richness of soul.
Yolanda, you were, are and always will be admired and loved by the people around you.
I will deeply miss you, my dearest friend.

Dear Horia and family,

there are not enough words to describe Yolanda, or what her passing represents to all of us!

She was everything what a great human being should be, bright, interested in everything around her, modest, loving and a remarkable empathetic and generous for others.

When I had my open heart surgery, she stayed with my daughter all the time during the operation, came to visit me almost every day and slept at my place a couple of nights when I arrived home alone. 

A few days before her passing, she told me how much she loved to understand and help people!

Yolanda’s parents, my beloved grandparents, met when Carol noticed a sweet little girl playing with her mom. They started talking and a few years later they were married and had Y. Tilly brought them together and for her 10th birthday they gave her the best birthday gift ever, her baby sister Yolanda. Carol was a kind, warm, wise man who loved both his girls deeply and enabled them to build an eternal bond. 

I’ve known Yolanda for almost 40 years. We started at Rogers cable  IT as co-workers, and then she was my boss, and most of all she was my friend. I will always remember when we took walks on the path behind her home, enjoying the nature and the quietness of the running river. I will miss her immensely.

Yolanda was with me, is with me and will be with me forever. She was a real friend , a  wonderful friend and I am cherishing the memories, being sorry that her life was cut too early.

I was very sad to read Yolanda’s last letter. Still I am full of admiration  for her bravery and sense of humor she showed by writing it.
Yolanda was my cousin, her father was the eldest brother of my mother.
As a child Yolanda was an abstract figure in my mind. Her father was a chemical engineer  and therefore was not allowed to leave Romania with the rest of the family.
Before she came to Israel I was sure my Rumanian is perfect. Then when we were around 12 years old , they finally where let out of Romania and I found out that the language I spoke that was good enough for my grandmother was totally not understood by the new comers. It was a great shock for me, and a blow for my ego.
Luckily Yolanda learnt Hebrew quite fast.
 We were amazed by the great love Yolanda and Tealy showed to each other. In our family we were more restrained.
Yolanda’s family moved to Haifa. That time people did not own telephone, not to mention a cellular one, The contact was not easy. Still when we met it was happy and  interesting .
I remember a family wedding, in which Yolanda and I arrived with almost the same dress. Even though  mine was bought and hers was tailor made they where made of the same fabric and looked very much alike. It did not bother us from wondering together all the evening assuring curious people that we are not twins.
Keeping in touch became more difficult when Yolanda moved to Canada, and yet there where happy meetings here and there, at first only with her, and then we had the pleasure of  knowing  Horia and enjoy his sense of humor.
Even my daughter Noa who arrived in Toronto long time ago with an  orchestra she was a part of, had the chance to enjoy the worm hospitality of the Negreas.
Regretfully  I don’t really know their son and daughter and don’t know at all their grandchildren, But I know she loved them dearly . They were a great comfort and source of happiness even when times became hard.

Sad news of Yolanda's passing.  I had a huge amount of respect for Yolanda!  She was always encouraging and had the most beautiful smile that always put you at ease.   She will be missed!

I was so  sorry to hear of Yolanda's passing.  She was one of my favorite people to work with, travel with for work, argue with and for sure laugh with.   We all loved her  Yolanda "isms" with her unique use of language.  For sure, one of the best.  My thoughts are with her beloved family.
