

Alita Katherine Wallace, age 86, of Whitehouse, passed away in the early morning hours of Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler. She was born on July 21, 1926 in Sayre, Oklahoma to William M. and Dez E. Crutchfield Castlebary, they preceded her in death. Alita worked as a bookkeeper and was a member of the New Covenant Baptist Church. She loved to knit, crochet and monogram all kinds of things for her children and grandchildren. Alita was an avid emailer who loved keeping in touch with her cherished friends and loving family. She took great pride in her time in the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 1799 and volunteering for Meals on Wheels.
Alita is survived by husband of 8 years, Owen E. Wallace of Tyler; one daughter, Pat Taylor, and husband Larry, of Whitehouse; sons, Rodger Johnson, and wife Crystal, of Bullard, and Sandy Johnson; and by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death one daughter, Kathy Lankford, and one brother, Thomas D. Castlebary.
Services for Mrs. Wallace will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 22, 2012 at Lloyd James Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Sellers officiating. Burial will follow at Whitehouse Cemetery with Bryan Johnson, Tim Tipps, Wayne Ford, David Hamilton, Christopher Cleveland, and Jonathan Johnson serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 P.M., Friday evening at the funeral home.
