

Billie R. Curtis, age 91, of Tyler, passed away in the mid-morning hours of Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. She was born on March 30, 1921 in Eastland, Texas to Sam and Abby Nolley; they preceded her in death. After graduating from Gilmer High School, Billie married the love of her life, Carl “Bob” C. Curtis, Jr, on April 14, 1948 and together they spent the next 60 years raising a family and living a lifetime of memories until his passing in 2008. Billie worked as a legal secretary for J. Byron Saunders. She was a devoted member of Southern Oaks Baptist Church where she was an active member of the Senior Choir. Billie enjoyed swimming and diving in her younger years and later in life she would spend time fishing and playing bridge, but those who knew Billie best knew that her first love was always singing. Her happiest times in life were spent with her beloved husband, children, and grandchildren.
Billie is survived by two children, Melinda Robertson and husband Ben, of Tyler and Carl C. Curtis III and wife Elaine, of Lynchburg, Virginia, by seven grandchildren, Adam Robertson and wife Carissa, Andrew Robertson and wife Rachel, Holly Robertson, Jenny Robertson, Bonnie Robertson, Kate Stearns, and Emma Curtis; and by 5 great-grandchildren.
Services for Billie R. Curtis will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Lloyd James Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6-8 P.M., Friday evening at the funeral home.
