Buna Jean Smith

Our mom was a bartender because she loved people. She was a social butterfly. She loved meeting people and making new friends. She loved her family and made it a point to always be available to help out when needed. Our parents would have been married 60 years this year on 11/5/1965.

She was preceded in death by her husband John Smith, her sister Monese Hopkins, her mother Helen Marie Taylor. She is survived by her daughter Dawn Smith and her wife, Irene Howard of Chandler, her son Mitchell Smith and his wife Sherri Smith of Chandler, her daughter Shannon Miller and her husband Brian Miller of Chandler. She has 4 grandchildren Jake Smith and his wife Schilee Smith, Brittani Smith, McKenzie Miller and Harper Miller and a great-grandchild Asher Smith.

She loved the Washington Redskins and enjoyed watching football, playing cards , and traveling to Las Vegas.

A visitation for Buna Jean Smith will be held Thursday, March 6, 2025 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at Lloyd James Funeral Home, 1011 East First Street, Tyler, TX . A funeral service will occur Friday, March 7, 2025 at Lloyd James at 10:00 AM. A graveside service will occur after the funeral service at Bascom Cemetery in Tyler. Pallbearers will be James Fausto, Bruce Burnham, David Hogan, Steve Black, Robert Dodd and Alan Ross.

The family request that, in lieu of flowers, Memorials be made to The Hospice of East Texas Foundation, 4111 University Blvd, Tyler, Tx. 75701.
