

David Francis Free, age 73, of Tyler, passed away in the early morning hours of Friday, July 13, 2012 at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. He was born on August 19, 1938 in Marthaville, Louisiana to David Greenwood and Mable Lee VanMeter Free, they preceded him in death. After high school, David served his country in the United States Army. He worked as a salesman throughout East Texas and beyond selling paper products. In his free time, David would often be found at his favorite fishing hole where he would spend countless hours chasing the next big fish. Although David was never shy of his love for fishing, everyone knew his first love and best memories were spent with his loving wife of nearly 52 years, Edreth, and their children and grandchildren.
David is survived by his wife, Edreth; one daughter, Susan Free of Lakewood Village, TX; one son, Steven Free, and wife Lori, of Tyler; grandchildren, Meredith Free, Hannah Free, Olivia Free, and Ethan Free, all of Tyler; sisters, Minnie Ola Thompson of Marthaville, LA, Elizabeth McAnelly of Toledo Bend, LA, and Mary Ann Weeks, and husband C.W., of Marthaville, LA; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
David was also preceded in death by one brother, William Free, and one sister, Opal Hines.
Services for Mr. Free will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 17, 2012 Rose Neath Funeral Home in Arcadia, LA. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M., Monday evening. A local visitation will be held from 2:00 – 3:00 P.M., Sunday afternoon, July 15, 2012 at Lloyd James Funeral Home.
