Dorothy was born in Paris, Texas on December 03, 1934 to David and Sallie Long. She was a 1953 graduate of Paris High School, and married Lloyd Smith on December 24, 1954 in Paris. He preceded her in death in 2007.
Professional education included a Bachelor’s in Education from NTSU, and a Master’s in Education from ETSU. She taught elementary school at Valley View, Paris, and Pilot Point schools. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Dorothy faithfully attended, worshipped, and served her churches in Valley View, Paris, Collinsville, and Tyler.
She is survived by; two sons, Randy Smith and wife, Annette, of Tyler and Dale Smith and wife, Sara, of Dallas; a daughter, Diana Hood and husband, Bruce, of Bryan; seven grandchildren, Russell Smith and wife, Sarah, Rachel Silvester and husband, James, Allie Hale and husband Dan, Ryan Smith and fiancée, Salina Rivera, Stuart Hood and wife, Erica, Spencer Hood and wife, Brooke, and Hannah Bean and husband, Michael; great-grandchildren, Riley Smith, Reagan Smith, Noah Silvester, Addie Silvester, Ethan Hale, Oliver Hale, Vera Hood, Margot Hood, Ruth Hood, Emma Bean, and Summer Bean.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the staff at Primrose Retirement Community- Memory Care, and to The Hospice of East Texas for the love and compassion shown to Dorothy and our family.
