Dovie Jean Roeland

A visitation for Dovie will be held Tuesday, September 9, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Lloyd James Funeral Home, 1011 E 1st St, Tyler, Texas. A celebration of life will follow visitation Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at 11:00 AM With Dr. Carl Carlson officiating. A committal service Tyler Memorial Park, Tyler, Texas.

We would like to take this time to celebrate the life of a loving godly woman. Dovie Jean Roeland was born to the late Gene Carlson and Frances Wyman of Tyler on July 9, 1950. She moved to her heavenly home August 31, 2025.

Dovie was precious to so many and is deserving of her memory being shared. She desired all to know and love her Lord and Savior as much as she did. She accepted her Savior on September 9, 1972 and was born again. She looked to serve her Savior and church family in many different capacities. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years and helped with VBS, church programs, and sang in the choir.

What she was most famous for was her mouth watering chocolate and coconut pies. She was proud to have had the recipe handed down to her and was thrilled when she taught her granddaughter how to make them "the correct way." She was also quite the estate sale junkie! She was always looking for just the right item with just the right price to snap up. Most importantly, when she loved, she loved with her whole heart. She was constantly finding ways to show her family and friends that they were thought of and loved.

Dovie is preceded in death by two children, John Arlon in 1972 and Patrick Allen in 2019. She is survived by her loving husband, of 15 years, Curtis Roeland of Tyler, her mother Frances Wyman of Tyler, brother Robert Carlson (wife Ree) of Kilgore, sister Shirley Long of Bullard, brother Carl Carlson (wife Mary) of Flint, daughter Jamie Smith (husband Tim) of Kilgore, bonus son Chris Roeland (wife Jennifer) of Tyler, bonus daughter Vanessa Flores (husband Bobby) of Tyler, bonus son Joshua Roeland (wife Heather) of Dallas, granddaughter Emily Smith of Kilgore, grandson Waylon Smith of San Diego, granddaughter Grace Roeland of Tyler, granddaughter Abbi Jenkins (husband DeQuallon) of Tyler, grandson Andre Roeland of Tyler, granddaughter Lily Kate Roeland of Tyler, grandson Darius Roeland of Tyler, grandson, Corbin Flores of Tyler, great grandson Axel Roeland of Tyler, with numerous neices and nephews.

Pallbearers are Robert Carlson, Waylon Smith, Nathan Tamlin, Justin Carlson, Tristan Tamlin, DJ Roeland, and Andre Roeland. Her body will be laid to rest at Tyler Memorial Cemetery.

Though we lay her body in the ground, we know that she is now in heaven with her precious Lord and is reunited with the loved ones she had longed to see.
